Take time to count your blessings. As we celebrate Thanksgiving this week, I wanted to touch on the topic of gratitude. We should always have an attitude of gratitude where we are in a place of being Thankful for what we have. We are so blessed. Life is just one of our many blessings. I want to challenge you to get to a place where gratitude is a natural feeling that comes from really appreciating the people and things that are in your life.
I don’t know if you journal but if not, it would be great a habit to start as you prepare for the new year. Start writing down every positive thing that happens to you, and all the things you like. Do this until you start automatically seeing the good things in life. If you’ve ever bought a white car, and started seeing white cars all over, you know how awareness can alter your perception of reality. To see wonderful things all over, train yourself to look for them.
When you are in the habit of “counting your blessings,” gratitude, and a much richer experience of life is the natural result. Counting are blessings helps us to stay centered and not take the things in our life for granted.
Begin and end each day with counting your blessings. It is very empowering and will help you grow in so many areas of your life. It’s time to focus on what you have instead of what you don’t have.
Here is an exercise for you. Quite all the noise and distractions around you, turn off the radios and television and be still and think about all you have to be thankful for. Stay in your quiet place for at least 5 minutes. When you are finish write down everything that came to mind.
